The world has many
places to visit and in the list Banaras is merely one of the place, still here
we see tourists not only within India but from all over the world come to visit.
Why do they come and many of them revisit the place or some of them permanently live
in the city. Few days ago, at ghat when got a chance to interact a group of
foreigner have asked why they were here. Unanimously they all replied,
for them the main purpose to visit this place was its enormous and unique
ghats, old embankment around. Of course the ghat and maa Ganga have been
answered by most of the tourists all the time.
The second most
common answer was food or banarasi khana,, yes the food here is not a new thing
for many Indian tourist but foreigners come to have a taste all what Banaras
offers them to eat, smell, taste or sorry to mention it here but to vomit.
the tourists love the
variety which Banaras serves them in their plate, kullad glass or
whatever the serving utensils may be, not only food but the place where
they get the food like narrow gali or street and the exact serving time of a
particular food like Kachaudi and Jalebi in the morning, Mallaio specialty of
the winter's morning and Paan almost 24*7.
The third thing that
has been mentioned by the forign tourist was many mandirs or temples of Hindus
faith so to know the religion one has to visit and even live for months of
month then only he will come closer a bit to the Hinduism.
The fourth very
common answer among them was the structure of Varanasi in its whole, its building,
its streets, nearby forts, and people .Few of them also named the Sanskrit
university and the Hindu university.
but one has summed it up like
this, she told me that she has been this place twice before and at first she
was here to give company to her boyfriend but she found the place so unique in
dwelling and also its people, food and way to start and end seemed her so
mesmerising she said she had visited second time and visiting this time to feel
her soul here, Banaras offer her to herself.
