North Korea will destroy a nuclear test site as a goodwill gesture ahead of summit

North Korean officials confirmed that the Punggye-ri nuclear test site will be destroyed ahead of the US-North Korea summit on June 12. In a rare move, the country is inviting reporters to monitor the event.

North Korea announces it is taking ‘technical measures’ to dismantle its nuclear testing site, according to the state news agency KCNA. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released said the dismantling was to “ensure transparency of discontinuance of the nuclear test.”
