two nations one soul- India-Russia informal summit at SOCHI

India in its quest to achieve the post of being the focal point of policy making at world level has come to its true situation in history. Extending and expanding its diplomatic ties with all nations around the world. When on 21 May, 2018 PM Modi met its counter Putin in Soch, Russia must has this in his mind.

One side India has a friendly relation with USA on different issues; it has a long history of strategic bilateral relations with Russia as well. whether it's about making an initiation towards normalizing ties with China; PM Modi has given a new look to the India's foreign diplomatic ties in world.

this time when PM met the Russian President Putin for an informal summit ahead of  the annual India-Russia summit in October he has put forward some important issues informally. Modi and Putin are scheduled to meet again in June during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in China, and at the summit of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) in July in South Africa, as well as at the G-20 meeting on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 in Argentina.

Major international issues were the focus of the talks between the two leaders. "The main driver of this meeting is the geopolitical environment prevailing today," PS Raghavan, chief of India's national security advisory board, told.

"The primary purpose of Modi's Russia trip would be to discuss the evolving geopolitical situation and to understand each other's perspective - to be able to see how we can both deal with situations in common interest," said Raghavan, who was also a former Indian envoy to Russia.

this time they made it sure to put some important issues like Indian and Russian leaders set to discuss arms trade and potential U.S. sanctions.

M Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin primarily focused on pressing global and regional issues, including impact of the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. They said the issues on the table may include economic impact on India and Russia in the wake of the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, situation in Afghanistan and Syria, threat of terrorism, and matters relating to the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS summits.

Repeating Vajpayee's words in 2000 during Putin's visit, Modi said that being a friend of Russia for a long time, India would like to see Russia as a powerful and confident nation, which, in a multipolar world, can play a significant role.
